Jana Ilkova, was born in 1978 in Topolcany, Slovakia. In 2004 she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design (VSVU) in Bratislava. Jana’s work consists of photographs of the human body and face, which capture the image and mood of the subject.
In her black and white photographs, Jana documents the bodies of the people standing in front of her camera and their feelings at the time of being shot. Even in today’s age of digital photography, she still works with natural light, which gives her work a flawless, grey shaded, reality in the background.
