Orit Fuchs - Vivid 161.
Vivid 161 is an acrylic painting by Orit Fuchs. In particular, the paintings of the Vivid series are typical of Orit Fuchs. What’s particularly refreshing, is that she doesn’t try to glamorize women or turn them into banal objects of perfection. Instead, she tries to capture their drama, their sass, their inner confidence, their outspoken sex appeal, and their unadulterated charm. In this sense, her VIVID series images are reminiscent of photographs of the elusive female soul. They feel like looking through the eyes of a poet in love, capturing all the spontaneous beauty and magic that flows from these women’s expressions. Further evidence of her unusual approach is her Short Stories series, which features faceless women in trivial but wonderfully natural moments. Fuchs puts the viewer in a poetic mood and lets them fill in the blanks themselves. The colors she chooses evoke the emotions each image is meant to capture. This series seems personal and universal at the same time. At first glance it may seem extremely simple, but it is the kind of simplicity that borders on genius.
Originals by Orit Fuchs can now be found in numerous collections around the world, including public ones such as that of the White Elephant Hotel in Palm Beach.
The White Elephant Hotel in Palm Beach (USA) houses a vast collection of original artworks. In the lobby hangs a colorful, circular acrylic painting with a diameter of 137 cm titled “Lady of the House,” depicting the face of a glamorous-looking woman wearing sunglasses; it is the work of Israel-based artist Orit Fuchs. You’ll also find original artworks by Orit Fuchs at “The White Elephant Nantucket Hotel.” In the newly redesigned lobby, the wall behind the front desk is adorned with a new mural by Orit Fuchs depicting a woman in a rowboat. It is said that the woman symbolizes Ludwig. The hotel’s intuitive founder would surely be delighted to know that her legacy lives on.
A unique piece by Orit Fuchs can also be found in the lobby of the White Elephant in Aspen. Similar to her installations in the lobbies of Nantucket and Palm Beach, Orit Fuchs transforms the “lady” of the White Elephant into three striking vertical statement artworks, depicting a glamorous interpretation of a cowgirl, a skier, and a fly fisher. They embody Aspen beyond skiing. At the heart of Orit’s work is the female image and the diverse forms it can take in modern society. Her female figures are imbued with the entire spectrum of human emotions and states of mind. For Orit, it is creative journalism.
