Sebastian Burdon is a pop artist and product designer best recognised for his unorthodox approach to breaking common conventions of modern design. The aim of his art is to express what cannot be express with words. He encourages the viewer to look at surrounding world and question it in derisive, unorthodox way.

He first started making digital art at the age of seven while using the Atari 130 XE. After moving to London in 2006, he worked as an assistant and consultant to established British artists. Burdon now creates artworks using both digital and traditional techniques; mediums such as resin and fibreglass for his sculptural work, silkscreen prints and more unconventional materials such as 3D printing. Burdon has explored various branches of the creative industry, having been heavily involved in contemporary and pop art by participating in projects displayed in London, New York, Verona and Berlin.

“Gone…” series is a collection of fine art prints representing shadowy blurry silhouettes of characters from our childhood, our heroes and idols who are now only faded memories. Characters who we loved dearly, who at our very young age influenced our lives. Nowadays they are less relevant. Some are almost no existent. Yet, we can still remember them as a part of our upbringing, however, the faded memories are. Often too blurry that we have trouble remembering their actual colors and shapes.

The characters in the prints are reaching out to us, hence the extended hand stuck to the face of the canvas, to remind us about their presence. Are they saying “Good Bye” while fading from our memories as we focus our attention elsewhere in adult lives? Or are they saying “We are still here, don’t forget about us…” as they fade into the pure brightness of the limbo of our minds? It is You, the viewer, who decides on your own personal message from the childhood idols.

His alias “Whatshisname” is inspired by the Green Day’s song Whatshername.
He Lives and works in London, UK
