David Gerstein - Cross Country.

Cross Country is a 3D wall sculpture by Israeli artist David Gerstein. The artwork consists of three layers of hand-painted aluminum panels depicting a group of skiers in a winter landscape.

This dynamic and visually stunning artwork captures the exhilaration and vibrant energy of downhill skiing. The artist skillfully employs a vibrant color palette, filling the scene with bold blues, greens, reds, yellows and purples, with each skier depicted in a distinctive, bold outfit that adds to the sense of movement and diversity. The composition features a cascade of skiers, each depicted in a streamlined, almost abstract form that nonetheless conveys an undeniable sense of movement and fluidity. The innovative blend of colors and lines suggests both the speed and dexterity of the skiers as they negotiate the snowy descent. Although the figures are stylized, they convey a remarkable sense of athleticism and grace. Each of them is caught in a specific moment of action, be it turning a corner or pushing forward with their ski poles. A unique aspect of this artwork is the way the background complements and contrasts with the figures. The loose, expressive brushstrokes in cool shades of blue and white evoke the snowy surroundings while creating a dynamic background that emphasizes the forward momentum of the skiers. The placement and layering of these elements creates a sense of depth and movement, giving the viewer the impression of a snapshot in a high-speed race on the slopes. The artist’s technique is both captivating and masterful, skillfully balancing abstraction and representation to create a work that is both visually stimulating and evocative. This artwork is captivating not only for its color and composition, but also for its ability to encapsulate the thrill and excitement of alpine skiing in a single, unforgettable image.

David Gerstein – Master of multilayer sculptures

In David Gerstein’s multi-layered works of art, the boundary between the two-dimensionality of painting and the three-dimensionality of sculpture becomes blurred. The works of David Gerstein captivate above all by their lively colorfulness. Most often, the human being in motion is found as the central theme of his sculptures and objects and as a point of departure. Tourists on 5th Avenue, marathon runners, bicyclists, roller coasters or dancing butterflies make the viewer virtually swing along. Meanwhile, the steel sculptures are cut out using laser technology. To ensure that the sculptures give pleasure for a long time, especially in the outdoor area, they are painted with Standohyd Plus a special varnish recommended for automotive repairs from the Standox company in Germany. Countless details that allow the subject to explore and explore again and again round out his objects, which in recent years have experienced a solid price development.
