Gerhard Richter - Victoria II.
Victoria II is a graphic edition by the German artist Gerhard Richter. It was created after the paintings of the same name, Victoria, which Gerhard Richter produced on behalf of the German Victoria insurance company in Düsseldorf. The two oil paintings still hang in the foyer of the insurance company today. The graphic was published in three editions. The first edition in 1987 was signed in the plate and üublished by the Achenbach Art Foundation in an edition of 500, the second in 2003 was hand-signed and numbered by the Achenbach Art Foundation in an edition of 150 and the third in 2003 was again stamp-signed in an edition of 500. The two editions of 500 were originally published as gifts for long-standing employees of Victoria Insurance.
Published by Achenbach Art Edition, Düsseldorf, for Victoria Insurance, Düsseldorf. Based on Richter’s large-format originals hanging in the insurance company’s headquarters, which are among his major works and which he named “Victoria I” and “Victoria II” as a reference to his client.
