Gerhard Richter Ulrike Meinhof
Gerhard Richter’s edition is a print mounted on Alu-Dibond from the original negative of the portrait of Ulrike Meinhof that Richter had copied in the Hamburg press archive and which became the model for a painting. The portrait of Meinhof was taken on October 10, 1966, and the photographer Inge-Maria Peters (who co-signed the edition) took the picture for the column of “Konkret”, which Meinhof was writing at the time, before she went underground four years later. Meinhof was 32 years old at the time the picture was taken.
