FRANK FLUEGEL GALLERY, with a strong focus on Contemporary Art and Pop Art will hold its opening reception in Nuernberg/Germany for the new show „Miles Aldridge – Dazzling Beauty“ from 7pm to 9pm on Friday, September 28th 2018. On view are new photographs by the British artist. The exhibition runs through December 22th 2018.
The gallery is specialized on artworks by Andy Warhol, Alex Katz, Mel Ramos, Mr. Brainwash, XOOOOX and Julian Opie.
Miles Aldridge was born in 1964 in London to designer Alan Aldridge. He started to study design, but changed to video shooting. In the 1990s he got in contact with the British Vogue and began his career as a photographer. He has worked together with Vogue, Harper`s Bazaar, GQ, The New Yorker, The Face and the New York Times among others. He also worked for fashion designers as Lagerfeld and Armani and did shootings for numerous brands, from cosmetics to car companies.
The works of Aldridge are on permanent display in several museums in London and the International Center of Photography, New York. During the last ten years the photographer had many solo exhibitions in the USA, Great Britain, Switzerland, Germany, France, Holland and Poland.
As we have Pop Art like Andy Warhol, Mel Ramos, Alex Katz, Julian Opie XOOOOX, or Tom Wesselmann in our program, Miles Aldridge fits perfect in that surrounding.
His most known artistic influences are the directors David Lynch and Federico Fellini as well as the graphic design of his father Alan, who created album covers for musicians as The Who or Elton John.
The portrait- and fashion-photography of Aldridge shows a distinctive colorfulness. Aldridge stages his models and settings right up to artificiality and parody. That way he challenges the alleged perfection of his models as well as the unrealistic image of women in advertisement and fashion.

FRANK FLUEGEL GALLERY, with a strong focus on Contemporary Art and Pop Art will hold its opening reception for the new show „XOOOOX – LOOKIE LOOKIE“ from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Friday, March 16th 2018. On view are mostly new unique works on wood and metal. The exhibition runs through April 28th 2018.
XOOOOX (*1979) is a German street artist who lives and works in Berlin. Similar to Banksy the true identity behind his pseudonym remains unknown.
His life-size stencil works show perfectly styled female models which he produces according to the models of fashion campaigns. For the background he uses materials with history like weather-beaten or putrid wood and fabric. Like this, he creates an aspect of evanescence and a contrast to the glamour of the world of fashion.
In many of his works he uses logos of fashion brands which he defamiliarizes. In some cases he pays homage, for example brands that have a long tradition. With others it is rather the criticism of over-industrialization of fashion and an invitation to the observer to scrutinize the topic.

GALLERY FRANK FLUEGEL, with a strong focus on Pop-Art and Contemporary Art, will open a new store in Austria for the first time ever on February 16th 2018.
The gallery is located in central Kitzbuehel in a typical townhouse of Tyrol that boasts 480 years of history. It is also known under the name Mantler Haus and can be found at Josef-Pirchl-Str. 6.
The gallery will be started on Friday, February 16th with the exhibition „Mr. Brainwash meets Kitzbuehel“.
„Life is beautiful.“
This ist he message of Thierry Guetta or Mr. Brainwash, as he calls himself. He is currently the best-known street artist beneath Banksy and his works have been taking over the international world of art for many years.
Mr. Brainwash was born in France and now lives and works in Los Angeles. His international fame was kicked off with his award-winning documentary „Exit Through the Gift Shop. For this movie, the enthusiastic filmmaker followed his friend Banksy around. Like this, Mr. Brainwash got in contact with the street art scene and started to create art himself. From that moment on, Mr. Brainwash became a phenomenon and a superstar who conquered the world of art at record pace.
His first two solo exhibitions in Los Angeles (2008) and New York (2010) attracted several thousand visitors and were sold out after a few days. In 2016 the artist had his first and equally successful show in Seoul/South Corea. Many celebrities like Rihanna or Madonna, for whom he created a CD-cover, are loyal collectors.
Mr. Brainwash`s artwork is also selling successfully at auctions. Prices beyond the appraisals are reached on a regular basis. The record so far is $120,000 at Phillips de Pury in London in October 2010 for an artwork with the Einstein motiv.

GALERIE FLUEGEL-RONCAK, with a strong focus on Contemporary Art and Pop Art will hold its opening reception for the new show ALEX KATZ – Celebrating 90 Years from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Friday, October 6th 2017. The Exhibition runs through January 15th 2018. On view are prints, mostly from the last 15 years, some unique oil paintings on wood from the Small Paintings series and cut-outs.
Alex Katz was born in July 1927 in Brooklyn/New York and is one of the most important artists of American Contemporary and Pop Art. His auction record so far is 690.000 US$ for a painting. His works can be seen in all major museums around the world including Albertina/Vienna and MOMA/New York.
He developed his own painting style in the 1950s by producing iconic, cool and effective images of life in the wealthy leisure class and of natural idylls. In a further step, he reproduced, reflected and reduced his motifs in his prints, which retained the planes of deep, radiant color that characterize his paintings.

April 2017.

Enoc Perez - Abstract Architecture
on Friday, September 30th 2016 from 7pm to 9pm.
On view will be recent prints of Enoc Perez on the subject of architecture.
Enoc Perez was born 1967 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He is a contemporary artist and author. In 1986 he moved to New York and studied painting at Pratt Institute. He recieved his Master of Fine Arts at Hunter College.
Perez is well known for expressing his interest in architecture with complex paintings of modernistic buildings like Hearst Tower in New York, Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami or Normandie Hotel in San Juan. His paintings capture the optimism and the utopian ambitions of modernistic architects: „In a way, these architects really believed in the idea of utopia. There's a true sense of believing in these buildings, and if you look at contemporary architecture, that's not as much the case. The fact that they're from a different era makes them nostalgic. I love painting, and I believe in painting, and I share that with these architects who believed in utopia. A lot of painters paint to question the medium, which might be perfect for them, but I'm one of those who really believes in painting.“, Perez explains.

The exhibition includes ‘LOVE Gold’, a portfolio of love heart prints each foil blocked with a single butterfly. Eight of the hearts are silkscreened and six are in gold leaf. Damien Hirst's 'LOVE Gold' is the first of two portfolios, the second, titled 'LOVE Silver'.
Damien Hirst was born in 1965 in Bristol and grew up in Leeds. In 1984 he moved to London, where he worked in construction before studying for a BA in Fine Art at Goldsmiths College from 1986 to 1989. Whilst in his second year, he conceived and curated a group exhibition entitled ‘Freeze’. The show is commonly acknowledged to have been the launching point not only for Hirst, but for a generation of British artists.
Since the late 1980s, Hirst has used a varied practise of installation, sculpture, painting and drawing to explore the complex relationships between art, life and death, explaining: “Art’s about life and it can’t really be about anything else... there isn’t anything else.” Through work that includes the iconic shark in formaldehyde, ‘The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living’ (1991) and ‘For the Love of God’ (2007), a platinum cast of a skull set with 8,601 flawless pavé-set diamonds, he investigates and challenges contemporary belief systems, and dissects the uncertainties at the heart of human experience. Hirst lives and works in Gloucester, Devon and London.

American Artist Alex Katz published a new portfolio called „Black Dress“. It’s a portfolio of nine silkscreens on paper, each showing different women in a black dress. Each is signed and numbered and has a size of 203 x 76,2 cm / 80 x 30 inches. The Edition is 35 pieces only. The exhibition „Alex Katz – Black Dress“ opens at Gallery Fluegel-Roncak first time in Germany on October 30th 2015.
As many of Katz’s print projects his newest work is also based on former paintings. The “Black Dress” project was first completed as a series of paintings done on door panels, depicting standing women in the classic fashion design. The exhibition is centered around this new suite, consisting of nine original screen prints each rendered at a monumental size of 80 x 30 inches, which mimic the size of the paintings. Each one is screen printed in 25 to 35 colors and follows Katz’s signature style of exploring portraiture and monochromatic elements. The first painting on that theme was, „The black dress“ from 1960. This work, which is now located in the Sammlung Brandhorst in Munich, is for sure considerable and was created at a point of time, when several Pop Art Artists checked out the principle of serialism simultaneously.
The fact, that Alex Katz captured the issue of the little black dress again impressed fashion designer Calvin Klein, so he spontaneously agreed to write the foreword for the catalogue:
„I also love what a simple black dress says about the woman who wears it. By making such a subtle and concise choice, she’s letting the world know she is strong and her sense of self is powerful. [...] She doesn’t expect to have all eyes on her, although, probably, if she carries herself proudly, she will. And that’s just the most modern and wonderful attitude anyone can have. Alex Katz’s Black Dress series is just as modern and wonderful. And, ironically, it has absolutely nothing to do with fashion. His portraits have such strong color fields and clean lines. And despite their apparent simplicity, they’re extremely expressive and perfectly capture the essence of his subjects. You can’t help but notice these women [...].“
Alex Katz turned 88 this year on July 24th. His auction record so far is 690.000 US$ for a painting. The Black Dress edition is very small with 35 copies only and might become an as important masterpiece in his career as the Marilyn Monroe Portfolio by Andy Warhol in 1967.

GALLERY FLUEGEL-RONCAK with a strong focus on Contemporary Art and Pop Art opened the exhibition "Stories of the Future" with works by Heiner Meyer on Friday, 17 April 2015. The artist was present in person.
Because of the great success the exhibition will be extended until 30 June 2015. On view will be oil paintings, mixed media works on paper and sculptures.
Heiner Meyer is a Pop Art painter and sculptor, he lives and works in Bielefeld. Meyer was born in 1953 in Bielefeld. He was interested in art and painting very early and had his first solo exhibition already with 19 years in a gallery in Münster. 1973 and 1974 he stayed in London and Cadaqués, where he worked as assistant of Salvador Dalí. He studied art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Braunschweig and got a teaching position in 1983. During this time he also moved into his first studio in Bielefeld.
His works often show opposing elements. He combines different techniques such as painting and photography as well as different motives. With their themes, colors and high contrast Meyers works appear like striking advertisements. Recurrently are motifs from the world of casinos, luxury items, such as cars, diamonds, perfume and advertising slogans. Meyer combines this often with a portrait of a Hollywood stars or a model.
His sculptures such as "Botox-Box" and Disney characters belong to the genre of Pop Art as well. Meyer's works are included in public and private collections worldwide. Tommy Hilfiger, an important collector of American Pop Art, acquired several works by Meyer in 2014. One sculpture was featured even on the front page of the September 2014 issue of Architectural Digest, USA.

Alex Katz was born in 1927 on July 24th in Brooklyn/New York and is one of the most important artists of american contemporary and pop art. His works are in all major museums around the world including Albertina/Vienna or MOMA/New York.
He developed his own kind of painting by producing iconic, cool effective images of life in the wealthy leisure class, and of natural idylls. In a further step, he reproduced, reflected, and reduced his motifs in his prints, which retained the planes of deep, radiant color that characterize his paintings.
Alex Katz celebrates his 87th Birthday on July 24th 2014.

Haring said of the baby, "Babies represent the possibility of the future, the understanding of perfection, how perfect we could be. Since then he is one of the most important and most popular British Artists, maybe the only one who transferred the Pop Art idea from Andy Warhol and others to the present.
Julian Opie's art is known for its reduction to simple outer lines and monochrome colours.
While doing that, he constantly tries to work with new media and a new combination of different media, not only doing simple prints or paintings.
His work is found in nearly every important modern art museum all over the worls like the Tate London or MoMa New York.

We will show recent photography by the young emerging artist Jana Ilkova. The Show runs through July 24th.
Jana Ilkova was born in 1978 in Topolcany, former Czechoslovakia (CSSR). She finished her studies in 2004 at "Akademie der Künste und des Designs" (VSVU) in Bratislava, Slovakia. Exhibitions in Germany, Austria, France, Poland and for sure Slovakia followed. She took part at Prague Bienale.
In her black and white images Jana documented the bodies and emotions of the people in front of her camera. Even in our days while digital photography and photoshop modifications are usual, the artist still works with natural light situations. In that way her works get a constant grey immaculate charisma which puts reality in the rear.

We invite you and your friends to the Show "Allen Jones - Drawings and Prints"
Show runs through march 20 th 2010.
We present a fine selection of original drawings and sketches by famous british artist Allen Jones. The Show will be completed by several prints.
Allen Jones, born in 1937 in Britain, is one of the last one alive famous Pop Artists. He became famous in the 60ies and his works are in nearly all museums like Tate Britain, MOMA New York, or Museum Ludwig in Cologne. Allen Jones was one of a group of students which included Derek Boshier, David Hockney, R. B. Kitaj and Peter Phillips, who radically changed the face of British art with their precocious, unconventional and irreverent work which was based in popular culture, embracing new subject-matter and new materials. Jones's preference was for glamour and style, and his aesthetic centred on beautiful women visualised erotically and stereotypically as in glossy magazines, advertisements and cartoon strips. Underpinned with a great mastery of colour and a consummate painting technique, Jones's work fluctuates between painting and sculpture. On a flat canvas painted forms appear sculptural and his three-dimensional works are painterly. He uses colour to describe form, at times with graphic precision, or conversely with an energy and freedom of gesture which is close to direct expression. Similar developments are evident in his printmaking.
He lives and works in London.
Images of the artworks by request and on the website.
With that Accrochage we will show a fine selection of our gallery artists: Andy Warhol, Tom Wesselmann, Candida Hoefer, Thomas Ruff, Simone Kocher, Bozena Bosko, Ariane Kipp, Robert Indiana, Alex Katz, Takashi Murakami, Julian Opie, Mel Ramos, Helmut Newton, Martin Denker and much more...
VIENNAFAIR - The International Contemporary Art Fair will be celebrating its fifth edition at the Messe Wien expo centre in 2009.
Focusing on young art and new galleries the VIENNAFAIR represents the dynamic development on the international art scene with a heavy emphasis on Central and Eastern Europe.
Every year this successful mix of established and new, national and international galleries is a point of attraction for collectors and people interested in art from all over the world.
Julian Opie's new work features linear life-sized images of the pole dancer Shanoza in nine different poses, each divided into three framed panels. His technique involves a unique marriage of silkscreen and flocking, resulting in a rich, black and velvety surface texture to contrast with pure white acrylic support panels - lending a dense and blurred quality to her outline.
Flocking is historically associated with wall coverings that became popular during the reign of Louis XIV of France and its use continues, in various forms, to the present day.
The representaion of Shanoza has been a recurring theme in Opie's work and earlier projects featuring the same subject include lenticular acrylics of Shahnoza dancing Naked and Shahnoza dancing in White Dress. The figure in these works appears to move when viewed from different angles.
This exhibition follows from Opie's major solo exhibitions at MAK (Museum of Contemporary Art) in Vienna and MITO Arts Foundation in Tokyo.
In line with out gallery task we are addict to PopArt, Contemporary Photography and emerging painters.
In order to have really new discoveries ready for you, we operate a project space in Bratislava, Slovakia.
Four to six times a year we will organize exhibitions and private views in our gallery space, whereat we will inform you punctual.
